Teens Top 10 - Vote!!

Voting is open until September 17th.  The nominations were the result of teen book clubs across the country working with publishers and YALSA, a division of ALA.  You can now vote to help determine the winner.  Last year 11,000 students voted for Paper Towns by John Green.  There are 25 finalists, you may vote for your favorite 3.  The first link will have a listing of the nominations with a short description, and the second link is the ballot.  I hope you have read a number of these great titles, if not we will have a display in the media center of the ones we have.  The winner will be announced during Teen Read Week October 17-23, 2010.

Read Print - Online Books

This site is a free online book library.  It has fiction, non-fiction, plays, poetry and short stories.  You may search by author or title.  Most of the listings are classic titles and I noticed that a couple of titles have been withdrawn by publishers, such as 1984 and Animal Farm by Orwell and The Great Gatsby by Fitzgerald but most of the others seem fine.  There will be a permanent link in the right column of this blog for you to access these titles at any time.

Foreign Language Books

The ESL department was very generous at the end of last year and gave the media center money to purchase titles in Spanish, Korean and Arabic to add to our collection.  They are located in the 400's section.  They will be useful for our ESL students to read popular fiction and classic titles and may also be checked out by students who would like to improve their foreign language skills.
