Have you seen that section in the library and wondered what type of books those were? Has your teacher or parent recommended Great Expectations, The Scarlet Letter, 1984, Animal Farm, Pride and Prejudice or something they read when they were teens? What was your reaction? Sure, Not!! Well check out this website and get an idea about what makes these titles great. Find out why they have lasted for generations. Steampunk

"Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction and speculative fiction. The books are set in an era or world where steam power is still widely used - usually the 19th century, and often Victorian era Britain. They might also contain alternate history-style presentations of "the path not taken" for such technology as dirigibles, analog computers, or digital mechanical computers (such as Charles Babbage's Analytical engine). Some recent titles have placed steampunk elements in books that are not in any specific time period. The Wild Wild West televison series and movie reflect elements of steampunk. There is a growing movement establishing steampunk as a culture and lifestyle". For more info : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/steampunk

For titles that we have in the media center that fall in this genre check OPAC or go to the Book List page.
